Mr. Everson is a strong leader and believes that Leadership is the ability to convey a vision and “connecting the dots” to day-to-day activities. It is inspiring people to commit to the vision in a way that they will perform to the best of their abilities. It requires the ability to connect with people in a way that earns confidence and respect.

He believes a good leader needs to have the skills to communicate with a variety of different types of people. They need to build relationships and/or demonstrate through actions and words that they know what they are doing and will not waste your time or lead you to failure.

The root of his leadership philosophy is summarized very well by Isaac in the third episode of Sports Night.

Isaac: "
But mostly because when you feel that strongly about something you have a responsibility to try and change my mind. Did you think I would fire you simply because you made a convincing argument? It's taken me a lot of years but I've come around to this: If you're dumb, surround yourself with smart people. And if you're smart, surround yourself with smart people who disagree with you. I'm an awfully smart man."
