Words of Wisdom

This is a rare photo of the Great Majestic Blue-Footed Booby. They are often cantankerous creatures and very difficult to get close to. This one, however, became friendly after it got into the camp beer supply.

The Blue-Footed Booby is highly opinionated. Every month it seems that it must climb to the highest point around and crow its opinions at anyone who'll listen. We think it may be some sort of mating ritual.

This Booby has apparently adopted us. We've tried to ditch it several times out in the desert, but it keeps finding us and drinking all our beer. Eventually, we got tired of it climbing on the roof every month to crow, so we taught it to use a computer. This column is the culmination of those monthly crowings.
